The Corona Virus or the Covid-19 is a war against an invisible enemy.

Government around the world are doing their best tirelessly to defeat it.

Unfortunately, no cure or vaccine has been discovered yet. This health crisis has shown us how vulnerable we are against such a small enemy.

Moreover, it has been continuously changing the way we live. Being in lockdown is something that we never experienced before, except maybe when we get the seasonal flu.

The psychological and health impact of being stuck at home almost all of the time can be devastating if actions are not taken accordingly.

Families who have kids should also understand that your kids being stuck at home all the time might be harmful to them.

However, human nature will always push us to adapt to any given situation.

The best way to fight the negative impacts of being in lockdown is to stay active as much as you can during the day, especially for your kids. As parents, you should look at this from a positive perspective.

You should perceive this as an opportunity to strengthen your bond with your kids. Keeping a healthy parent-child relationship can have so many benefits on your kids.

This will help them develop and grow a healthy social and emotional life in the long term.

It will make them happier, which will exhibit a positive attitude towards their environment as adults.

To help you with that, here are some activity ideas that you can enjoy doing with your kids during the coronavirus lockdown.

Homeschooling

With all schools being closed due to the corona virus outbreak, homeschooling your kids is a must and is an obligation for all parents.

Yes, this means you will have to study with your kids’ subjects such as basic math, grammar, geography, history and so on. And who knows you might learn some new stuff.

This might be difficult for some parents because this means adding a new role as a teacher to the parenting tasks. It’s also difficult for kids to adapt and establish this new relationship that you will have with them.

One of the best pieces of advice that I have read online about this is to let your child teach you.

First, this will help build a new learning environment that you are taking part in as a parent-teacher. And second, one of the best ways to learn something is by teaching it.

You could let your kids do the work, then listen to them carefully and actively.

If you’re still lost, you can always contact your kid’s school teachers and ask them for advice. Believe me; a good teacher will always know your kids better than you do, which is totally okay given the time they spend with them at school.

Physical Exercise

Exercise is an important activity that you should do with your kids at home.

For safety measures, kids cannot go to parks or open-air playgrounds, and so they have to stay at home. Making a physical activity with your kids should become a daily routine.

This is very important as physical activities help children with muscles and bone development. It also encourages them to stay fit and healthy in the long run.

Creating such positive habits for your kids, starting at an early age is very important.

Kids are also very energetic, and the best way to use it in a positive way is through exercise. Check out this video that contains fun indoor exercises for kids.

Cooking

Being on lock down also means having to cook your own food due to the closure of many restaurants.

Cooking is a skill, and as a parent, I believe that it’s vital to teach your kids the skill to feed themselves when they get old.

Of course, at their age, they will learn it in a fun way.

You can teach them how to cook pizza, bake cookies, or make ice cream. It’s an activity that you, as a mother or father, should do together with their kid. You might even create a fun game for a cooking competition show.

Playing Games

In a digital world where everyone is doing everything on their phone, it is essential to engage your kids with fun games nit requiring a form of technology.

There are many games of that sort, such as board games.

Monopoly and Pictionary are great examples of that. You can also include games that require more thinking like scrabble, chess, or sequence.

There are other games that you can try, which could be more fun for your kids. You can create a DIY hallway laser maze using tape, as shown in the picture.

Another fun energy bursting game you can play with your kids is bowling.

Simply use your hallway as the bowling lane and put plastic bottles or cups as bowling pins, then try to knock them down using a paper tennis ball.

Watching TV

Screen time isn’t always that bad.

As a child, I used to love when the time comes for us to gather all and watch TV together. There is just something about it that I really loved.

It somehow just made me feel being close to my parents, and it made our bond even stronger. You can watch your kids’ favorite show and let them talk to you about it.

Don’t forget to compliment the show they’re watching. Switch things up and watch a TV show together. However, be wise with your choices as kids absorb information quickly and easily.

Painting

This is one of the activities that I really loved doing as a kid.

Painting will help kids explore their creative talent and abilities.

It is even better when you do it together. It creates a fun and joyful environment for your kid as well as for you. Painting is a great way to strengthen the memory capabilities.

It also increases your child’s focus levels and enhances their hand-eye coordination.

Conclusion

Parenting is not easy, especially during times like these.

However, just remember that this is the perfect time for you as a parent to discover and get to know your children better.

This is also the perfect time for you as parents to make your children discover who you are. So make them fall in love with you and be good to each other.
